How to Become a Notary Public in Kentucky

Kentucky Notary Requirements:

  • Minimum Age: 18 years old
  • Residency: Resident or have a place of employment in the Kentucky county where the application is made

  • Bond Required: Kentucky Notary Bond for the 4-year commission term

  • Application Fee: $10

  • Must be able to read and write English; and not disqualified under KRS 423.395.

1. Complete the Notary Public State at Large form and mail with filing fee to the KY State Treasurer

2. Purchase a KY Notary Bond Notary Bond and any supplies you will need such as a stamp/embosser, journal and recommended online notary training.

3. Submit the Bond, to the county clerks office and take the oath of office
